The new security system introduced by Apple in its next iOS 7 will be challenged by experts hired by New York and San Francisco District Attorneys. The growing number of iPhone thefts makes U.S. government anxious to make big smartphone companies improve their anti-theft features. iOS 7 firmware is to be officially introduced later this year. It has been tested by carriers, developers and ordinary users who updated their iPhones to its beta versions. Now it will be tested by government officials who sponsored experts to thwart the security systems developed by the Cupertino-based giant and Samsung [Galaxy S4 is the handset that interests the government].

This feature is coming soon. It is very exciting to Apple customers who don’t want anyone to access their personal information on the iDevice in case it is stolen or lost. It will be possible to simply enable Activation Lock feature in order to prevent thieves from using your smartphone even if they choose to wipe it or disable Find My iPhone option. In both cases whoever has your handset will have to enter your Apple ID / password otherwise the iPhone won’t be activated on a wireless mobile operator.

Professionals who will try to pass through the security system on iOS smartphone come from the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center. They will use techniques employed by thieves while conducting their experiment. Just like it happens in the reality, experts will try to deactivate the gadget prior to “resale on the black market” and re-activate it afterwards by turning off Find My iPhone, wiping the device’s content and getting past the Activation Lock.
