Awesome news for those who are waiting for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak: three hours ago pod2g, the main jailbreaker of 2012 posted a little Q&A on his official blog. He decided to answer some of the key questions due to hundreds of people who had recently attacking his Twitter account with different questions. The message ends with words 'Be patient, it's gonna happen' that give us even more certainty about upcoming jb tool. Here are some of the main points that bother people with Apple devices from all around the world: iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak Release
5.1.x untethered jailbreak FAQ I receive lots of questions either by email or twitter about the 5.1.x untethered jailbreak. Here are some answers :
  • The poll about releasing now or waiting for 6.0 ended with a 64% / 33% to release ASAP. Where is the link ? ETA ? How much % done ? etc.
As I said earlier in twitter, there's still a lot to do to have a user friendly and well tested tool to install the jailbreak on end users devices. Expect a release in a couple of weeks.
  • Will it be compatible with my ?
It will be compatible with any device running iOS 5.1.1 except iPod 3G, iPhone 3Gs and ATV3 (right now, may change in a near future, nobody knows).
  • Why is it so slow to release now that the iPad 3,1 has been demoed ?
There are 16 different devices out there to work on and to test. It takes time.
  • May I be a beta tester ?
No, sorry. Only really trusted people (that can be counted on one hand) could have access to the jailbreak. I don't want any leak to happen.
  • What if I offer you 1,000,000$ ?
That doesn't change a thing. Be patient, it's gonna happen. See you my friends. ~pod2g
iOS 5.1.1 Jailbreak Release by pod2g We've already wrote that in consideration of poll's results published earlier hacker decided to release iOS 5.1.x untethered jailbreak before iOS 6 release. Now we know more or less when exactly this will happen. Sorry for guys with 'unlucky thirds' who expected jailbreak for iPhone 3G, 3GS, and Apple TV3. It won't work right now but there's always a chance for positive changes in upcoming firmwares. The greatest thing about the new jailbreak is that you can now upgrade to iOS 5.1.1 without fear to stay tethered to your PC. The rest of the Q&A speak for themselves pretty much. We can now eagerly wait till the end of May to get the desired jailbreak in user-friendly form and without any bugs that can harm the device in any way. We've previously reported that pod2g made an untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4S running iOS 5.1 and few days ago he did the same thing with iPad 3. And later he succeeded with iOS 5.1.1 on the same device. Are you one of the hackers who'd like to participate in the jailbreaking process or you are just waiting for ready to use solution? What do you think of these updates? Will you update to the newest (by now) iOS and then jailbreak or wait till iOS 6? Update: Untethered iOS 5.1.1 jailbreak is released and you can jailbreak your gadget with Absinthe 2.0
