The report about Apple court battle is not news to users, fans and rivals. The iOS giant has a lot to protect or be accused of because it is impossible to make all people happy and excited about the successes of the iPhone maker. This time the Cupertino-based giant has been accused of infringing gaming patents. The battle was between Apple and Smartflash LLC. The iOS company has lost it and will have to pay millions of dollars for this. Smartflash LLC filed a case against Apple assuring that the ‘fruit’ company used its patented inventions in iTunes and didn’t ask for such permission. Apple has been ordered to pay over $532 million [$532.9 million to be exact] to Smartflash. Such a solution was ruled by the Texas jury. What has caused such damages? According to Smartflash, Apple used ‘data storage and managing access through payment systems’ inventions in some iTunes apps. The firm mentions 4 Pics 1 Movie and Coin Dozer programs in its documents. Apple believes that the inventions used in iTunes are not worth more than $4.5 million but SmartFlash LLC got the award of $532.9 million in damages though it was seeking even more. At first, this company was trying to prove that Apple infringed three of its patents worth $852 million but the jury decided that it’s too much. It is curious that Smartflash LLC offers no services and makes no products. It only licenses the seven patents and this is how it earns money. Apple is not the only company that was sued by Smartflash which earlier also sued Google, Amazon and Samsung over similar infringement.
