Black Hat, a computer security conference, bringing together many different people interested in the protection of data, was founded in 1997. The event was attended by representatives of both federal agencies and corporations, as well as hackers. Black Hat is a regular in Las Vegas, Barcelona (formerly Amsterdam), and Tokyo.
