This week, Cupertino company officially announced that Apple EPEAT Certification will not be used by them anymore. But suddenly, they changed their mind and applied it again, that's the latest Apple news. EPEAT certification system allows to evaluate the environmental friendliness of various electronic devices. However, according to Apple, EPEAT standards of certification are no longer able to show the full ecology level of gadgets themselves. Apple-EPEAT-Certification Let us remind you that last week city officials in San Francisco refuses to buy Apple computers to their institutions because of the reluctance of technology giant to pass environmental certification of their products. According to the Wall Street Journal, over the next two weeks, the administration of all departments of San Francisco will be sent letters explaining the position of the EPEAT organization (Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool), carrying out such an assessment. The ecology-friendly organization evaluates the impact of electronic devices on the environment in a number of criteria, including energy efficiency and recyclability. In 2010 the authorities of San Francisco spent on Apple products $45,579, while global sales of Apple for the year totaled $65 billion. That week Apple has stated that they won't change that decision and that their production is established taking into account energy efficiency standards, which are set by the U.S. government. Unfortunately, the presence of EPEAT certification is a key factor for many companies in the choice of electronic gadgets and almost immediately after the rejection of EPEAT, Apple has lost a lot of potential corporate clients. Apparently Apple realized the error of their decision and now vice-president of the company's "hardware" gadgets, Bob Mansfield said that the company will return the EPEAT certificate  for their devices.
For Apple has always been important environmental protection, and that is why our gadgets by far exceed all environmental analogues on the market. But if our partner is so important certification standard EPEAT, we are ready to go to the meeting and re-use it
- said Bob Mansfield. Most of the gadgets will get a re-certification of EPEAT in the near future. What do you think of the situation around Apple and ecology standards? Are they really outdated or that's some dirty games from Apple's side? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
