A group of developers promises to create iMods jailbreak store to compete with Cydia store developed by Saurik. The famous hacker has already responded to the announcement about the future of iMods vs. Cydia and now the team behind the store that hasn’t been released yet asks Saurik for partnership. Everyone in the jailbreaking community is acquainted with Saurik Cydia server. This is the place that has tons of tweaks, games, jailbreak apps and programs that are designed to improve your iOS life. Saurik has recently published a post in this blog titled “Competition vs. Community” which is pretty long where the hacker says that a lot of people tried to make an alternative to Cydia store but failed to succeed.
Now the iMods team responds to this post by offering Saurik to work as partners. According to this team, their iMods project is not aiming to capture Cydia audience. It is aiming at users who don’t want to jailbreak their iPhone or iPad but wish to get different modifications and useful applications instead. Besides, the new jailbreak app store for iOS 7 and later iOS 8 devices will not compete with Cydia, its creators say. Instead, they wish to be partners with Saurik. They believe that this could make both Cydia and iMods better. At the same time, Jay Freeman aka Saurik hasn’t responded to this offer yet. He spend years on making his Cydia store popular and needed, and he will most likely reject the new idea letting the iMods team float on their own. Still we’ll keep an eye on this story development and let you know how the jailbreaking community changes with time.
