Things you will need to do this: Step One: First things first. Backup your device via iTunes as usual. Step Two: Upgrade to iOS 5.1.1. Skip this step if you are already running this firmware. Step Three: Run redsn0w. It's better to run as administrator to avoid issues during the process. To do that simply right click on the program's icon and select 'Run as administrator'.
