About an hour ago pod2g tweeted that iOS 5.1 untethered jailbreak release date will come as soon as the couple of weeks. Hacker also said that he won't release beta version for any money. About two weeks ago he posted a poll in which asked about iOS 5.1 untether release necessarity. Most of respondents answered that they would like to get the unlock right away, after it will be ready for public release. But pod2g's thought differs from the others.

iOS 5.1 Untethered Jailbreak Release Date

Eventually he decided not to release the jailbreaking tool before iOS 6 update at the end of the poll. But as shows the video posted few hours earlier, hacker demonstrated that he already owns the untethered jailbroken iPhone 4 running iOS 5.1. After that he tweeted that he also managed to jailbreak his iPad 3 on iOS 5.1. Next he plans to find some exploits for iOS 5.1.1. He should most definitely cooperate with i0n1c which claim he has jailbroken his iPad 3 on iOS 5.1.1 already. He also mentioned in previous tweets that he plans to stabilize the payload which means he is going the jailbreak  for the public release. And that's what he tweeted about an hour ago: ios 5.1 untethered jailbreak release date
ETA for 5.1 jailbreak: look at my previous tweets. Some weeks away to have a nice, user friendly tool. No beta, sorry, even for $1,000,000.
Does it mean that he change his mind about jailbreak release time? Will he release jailbreak for 5.1 and then work on exploits for iOS 5.1.1? And What will happen after iOS 6 release? Should he start all over again? Anyway, speaking of user friendly version of iOS 5.1/5.1.1 jailbreaking tool, right now it works fine on such device s as iPhone 4, iPad 3. That means it should perform well on iPhone 4S, iPhone 3GS and iPad 2. The only not supported device could be Apple TV 3.
