Apple is Testing new iPhone 5 screen along with other new features and parts. To be exact, the company is testing multiple devices with different parameters and different physical specifications. iPhone's display remained unchanged for the first three iterations of the device. With iPhone 4 we've received incredible Retina display but the dimensions still remained unchanged. The Apple phone's screen remained 3.5 inch with aspect ratio 3:2. It's time for things to change now. As 9to5mac reports, there are a couple of next-gen iPhones on the test. The detailed specifications can't be unveiled right now because Apple keeps its secrets extremely well, as always. Still, a leaked message reports that two device prototypes with larger display named iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2 are being tested right now. They are on PreEVT stage of development and are codenamed N41AP (5,1) and N42AP (5,2). As some of the Apple's models are often reserved for internal-only usage no one knows for sure which model will make it to the finish line in fall this years. Thing that unites this both models is the display. iPhone 5,1 and iPhone 5,2 are equipped with 3.95 inch screens diagonally. The resolution of the display will also be increased. The vertical count of pixels will remain the same - 640. But the horizontal row will be 176 pixels longer to fit the added screen space. So now the resolution will be 640 x 1136 instead of 640 x 940 in iPhone 4/4S. The new resolution will bring it very close to 16:9 format which means that future iPhone users will be able to play 16:9 movies in original aspect ratio. There are also rumors heard about Apple testing new iOS 6 build with custom display resolution. Build includes customized SpringBoard with (what a surprise!) fifth row of icons besides ones that are in dock. That view will allow to manage more content at a time and put more applications on one desktop. Speaking of hardware besides the new screen, guys have heard that the home button will remain on its place and dock connector will be smaller tough. Those connectors will be introduced by Apple with time and their shape will be somehow between Micro-USB and Mini-USB connector.
