This week Apple employees submitted interesting application for the invention to the US Patent and Trademark Office. It says about "intelligent Automated Assistant." Apparently, we are talking about Siri, which iPhone and iPad users met quite warm. The application describes the principle of the electronic assistant, managed voice commands and communicating with the owner of the device also by voice.

Siri patent application

Unfortunately, Siri patent application describes only the general mechanism of the program, so no interesting details were gathered by the journalists. One thing mentioned there was really interesting. In the application mentioned "anchor text" which Siri heard when somebody talk to her. Documents which were filed by the Apple specialists, refers to the development of alternative "anchors" or using by the programming assistant special systems like Wolfram | Alpha, knowledge bases and a set of computational algorithms that make possible translation of questions in a format that is understood by computers. With their help the Siri application can understand most of what people want from her. After receiving the above mentioned Siri patent Apple executives can sleep quietly. From that time the "intelligent Automated Assistant" will become Apple's own invention. After that no court will accuse the company of patent infringement. Interesting is that many expected from iOS 6 Siri on iPad and other non-iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 gadgets. But as we know that didn't happen. Also it seems that Apple is trying to update its Siri app because of reduced popularity. Many complain that Siri is dump. Apple need to come up with something and bring popularity of Siri back. But if Cupertino company prepared Siri patent application this means that Apple really has big plans for this voice assistant and I'm sure that new update will bring something really new. And how about you, do you often use Siri? Does this voice assistant need some changes or updates.
