Detailed iOS 8.1.1 Installation Guide [iPhone, iPod touch, iPad]
Not all my friends are fond of jailbreaking and they wished to update to iOS 8.1.1 as soon as it was launched. It is surely fun to be able to install various tweaks and hacks, but there are people who value Apple warranty and official software much more than those tricks. Personally I think it’s cool when you can jailbreak but I also understand my friends who avoid installing third-party programs and apps on their iPhone 6 and other iDevices.
I hope that this iOS 8.1.1 installation guide will be helpful to users who update rarely and don’t exactly remember what to do. It’s rather simple and all you have to do is be attentive while completing each step. Once again, remember that once you install iOS 8.1.1 you won’t be able to jailbreak because there is no programs that can jailbreak this new firmware at the moment.
How to Install iOS 8.1.1 on Your Apple Device
Step 1. Before you follow the instruction check out what iPhone or other device you have. The new software version supports iPhone 4S and all newer smartphones, iPod touch 5gen and iPads beginning with iPad 2. In other words, if you have the original iPad, iPhone 4 and earlier or early versions of iPod touch you won’t be able to upgrade to iOS 8.1.1.
Step 2. Now as you know that your iDevice model is you can learn how to update to iOS 8.1.1. To protect yourself from any errors and unpredicted situations you need to backup the gadget. It is possible to do with iCloud or iTunes program. Any program is good to use.
Step 3. You can now connect to your computer with a USB cable. Open iTunes so that it can detect the smartphone or tablet you have.
Step 4. For OTA update it is better to use Wi-Fi network as this saves you money on your cellular connection. Go to Settings program on your iDevice, select General menu where you can find Software Update menu. Everything will be done automatically as your gadget should check on new firmware and see that iOS 8.1.1 is available for download. Just click on Install Now option and the device will download and install the new operating system.
If you don’t want to update via OTA, skip the step 4 and continue to the next one.
Step 5. For users who don’t like OTA updates, just press on Check for Update menu in iTunes. Do not hold down any extra buttons while you are doing this. If the program sees the new firmware it will allow you downloading and installing it. In case it isn’t available through iTunes for you, just download the direct firmware file for your gadget model and point iTunes to this unzipped file [unzip it beforehand]. When iTunes asks you to confirm that you wish to update to iOS 8.1.1, say yes and continue by clicking Update option.
Step 6. During iOS 8.1.1 installation you will have to accept the Terms and Conditions and click Next to continue. Just follow the guide that will appear on your screen and you will do great.
