Apple should release iOS 8 update this fall. Before this firmware becomes public you can decide whether you want to install it or not. It is best to start with the list of all iOS 8 supported devices. Once you know that your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch can run this firmware you are safe to upgrade. If you have an older model that is not supported you can simply use your current operating system version and improve it using other methods.
What Devices Support iOS 8
Not all iDevices are able to carry the new firmware upgrade. Along with iOS 8 features supported phones there are supported iPad models and only one iPod touch version.
As the first four beta versions say, the list of all iOS 8 compatible devices goes as follows.
What iPhones Support iOS 8
iPhone 4 that was supported with iOS 7 is no longer supported by version 8. Only users with models beginning with iPhone 4S can install iOS 8 update, including iPhone 5, 5c, and 5S.
What iPads Support iOS 8
iPad Mini and iPad Mini 2 are supported by the new firmware.
The original tablet device will not be able to run this update, but iPad Air and iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad 4 do support iOS 8 so you will be able to easily install the improved operating system.
What iPod Touch Supports iOS 8
Only one model of iPod touch line can run the new firmware. This is iPod touch 5G. Besides, the next-gen iPhone 6 and updates in iPad models will all have iOS 8 pre-installed.
The iOS 8 is the real discovery for all iPhone, iPad and iPod touch users and you can install iOS 8 here right now. And it is Apple’s biggest update to iOS ever. It was represented with huge amount of new features. In these two articles we will look through full iOS 8 features list.
With the help of the iOS 8 developers add custom actions to notifications like reply for messages, archive or trash for mails, decline/accept for calendar invites and so on. This is for real very useful application when you have to answer very fast to a message without leaving the current app. Or when you like a Facebook comment.
When you device is plugged in, by simply saying “Hey Siri” you can activate Siri on your iPhone or iPad handsfree .It is very helpful for those who are driving at that time and want to ask Siri for something, but don’t want to take eyes off the road.
The QuickType a new predictive typing system that iOS 8 includes. As soon as you start typing on the iOS Keyboard, system will offer three recommended words or phrases you’d probably type next. As Apple says that the suppositions will be made based on your past dialogues and your writing style. It will also exploit the casual style you might use while sending text messages and the more formal language that you tend to use while sending an email.
AirDrop on Mac and iOS
AirDrop finally works across Mac and iOS. You’ll be able to send photos, videos, links and files from your iPhone or iPad to Mac, and vice versa.
SMS and Phone calls on iPad and Mac
You’ll be able to make and receive phone calls on your Mac and iPad with iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite. As long as your iPhone signed into the same iCloud account and is nearby your Mac or iPad. When a call comes in, your Mac pops up a notification with the caller’s name, number and photo. Of course along with the option to answer or decline. The notification also shows you that the call is coming via your iPhone. SMS has got a similar feature from the Apple too, where you could send and receive SMSes on your Mac and iPad.
Widgets is the feature that we had long been waiting for. Widgets will be available in the Today tab in Notification Center and on the lock screen. Apple added a number of widgets, including eBay, for viewing wish list items and bids and SportsCenter for viewing scores and headlines.
A new feature in iOS 8 and Mac that lets developers enable users to transition from iOS to Mac, and vice-versa, is Handoff. It detects your devices in proximity. And as long as they’re signed into the same iCloud account, it lets them talk to each other. So you can pick up the same Numbers document you were working on your Mac, on your iPad, by just sliding up the Numbers icon on the lock screen.
Now with the help of iOS 8 third-party developers can replace the built-in keyboard with their own keyboard using system-wide. A lot of popular keyboard makers like Swype, SwiftKey, Flesky and TouchPal claime that they had iOS 8 keyboards available on launch day.
Tab view in Safari for iPad
iOS 8 brings the Tab view to Safari on the iPad. The Tab view on Safari is more organized, as tabs from the same site are grouped together. And the tabs open on your other devices are nicely arranged below the tabs.
You can switch to the new Safari tab view with a two or three-finger pinch gesture as you can see in the video below, which is quite cool.
The developers have also improved the editing features. They added smart adjustments to fix light and color using a simple slider. After you’ve clicked the photo you can also straighten it and adjust the crop. There’s a circular dial that lets you further adjust the degree of rotation. Don’t worry because all edits you make are synced to all your iDevices with iCloud.
Apple has finally added a search button to the Photos app with iOS 8. Just tap on it and find photos based on date, time, location, or album name. You also get suggestions as you type, as well as recent searches, so that you can easy find what you’re looking for as soon as possible.
With iOS 8, the sharing system became more neoteric. Apple let app developers provide their own sharing options in other apps. So instead of an app developer integrated Pinterest in their own app.As the result Pinterest itself could tell iOS to show the Pinterest share option where ever a photo is to be shared.
iOS 8 introduces a new feature called Family Sharing. Which lets members of a same family without having to pay for separate downloads share apps between each other.
The iOS 8 developers let you access your favorite app’s photo or video editing interface. You can make changes and save the edited photo. And it is all without leaving the Photos app. In the future Apple will set Instagram, VSCO cam or Aviary could have their own interface pop up within the Photos app. And you will have a chance to apply your favorite filters and presets without jumping through multiple apps.
An action extension has huge power. It “helps users view or transform content within the context of another app.” The action extension Apple demoed was Bing’s translator. It could translate selected text in Safari into a different language. Working on the same data with multiple apps was certainly possible but hard in earlier iOS versions.
A new iCloud feature is iCloud Drive. It lets use iCloud as a Google or Dropbox Drive alternative. It exists as a single folder on iOS and Mac devices. In this folder all files and subfolders are synced. You can use iCloud Drive to work on a single document ,without creating any unnecessary copies, across different iOS apps.
Apple made it much easier to deal with files across multiple apps. Services like Dropbox, Google Drive etc. can now define themselves as “Storage Providers”. So now it is very easy work on a single file from multiple apps without creating unnecessary copies. Because that apps that deal with files can store and retrieve files stored in these services without any hassles.
Touch ID in third-party apps
With the help of the iOS 8 Touch ID is becoming even more useful. Because app developers will be able to let users log in to their own services with their fingerprints. It means that it will be much more convenient than typing your username and password each time you log in.
Safari saved passwords available in native apps
The Safari saved password database is synced across your iPhone, iPad and Mac. That’s why third party apps can now access saved passwords and other AutoFill info from Safari as long as both of them point to the same domain. This will make it a lot easier to login to native apps. One more addition is that apps can also add passwords to Safari’s AutoFill info. So that the same credentials get reflected across all your devices.
Scan Credit Card to autofill payment info
You don’t have to go through the hassle of entering number of credit card manually. Because In iOS 8, Safari includes a new feature that will allow users to scan a credit card with their iPhone or iPad’s camera. This feature is also used to add a credit card or debit card to Apple’s new Apple Pay mobile payments system.
Siri’s Shazam song recognition
Usage the Shazam or Soundhound for identification what song is playing by letting the app record a portion of the song. Now this functionality is built into Siri. You can simply ask Siri “What song is this?”. And the system starts listening to get a sample of the song. When the song is recognised. The Siri shows a button to open the Shazam app for more info and a link to buy the song.
Time Lapse mode in Camera
iOS 8 adds to the Camera app a new Time Lapse video mode. Time lapse photography is a technique where photos are clicked with long time intervals between them. So that the sequence appears to “lapse”, when played together at a normal frame rate.
Per app Battery usage
OS X Mavericks added a really useful feature that let you zero down on apps that were consuming significant energy. iOS 8 add a similar option to let you see battery usage by app. The result is that the next time you see an unusual battery drop, you know who to blame.

Apple Pay is a developed mobile payments system. It is powered by the NFC chip on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. To make a payment you simply hold your iPhone near the point-of-sale system. And verify you are the card holder by scanning your thumb with Touch ID.
The system stores your credit card info in an encrypted and secure way, with the help of Touch ID and the new A8 chip. Apple Pay are also useable with the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s when paired with an Apple Watch.
The service is deeply integrated with Passbook. Apple Pay doesn’t store your credit card numbers. It does not transfer them to the merchant. And this service doesn’t register what you have bought or how much you have paid for purchase . It simply creates a complex number for your card. And uses a one-time code for when you make payments.
Apple Pay supports credit and debit cards from the three major payment networks: American Express, MasterCard and Visa. Works with 6 major banks including Bank of America, Capital One Bank, Chase, Citi and Wells Fargo As for stores, Apple says that more than 220,000 retailers will work with Apple Pay including Macy’s, Bloomingdales, Wallgreens, Duane Reade, Subway, and McDonalds.
The iPhone 6 is of course larger than its predecessor and has all-new design. The standard iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch display, though the iPhone 6 Plus packs a 5.5-inch screen.
The new Smartphones are also much more thinner. With the iPhone 6 measuring in at 6.9 mm and the iPhone 6 Plus a hairline bulkier at 7.1 mm. To make such a design, which looks along the lines of a fifth-generation iPod touch, the iPhone 6 has a seamless transition between glass and metal. The newer iPads, iMacs and other Apple products have the same combination. The handset is made with a mix of anodized aluminum, stainless steel and glass.
The Apple company wants to ensure one-handed use of the iPhone 6. So it has moved the Sleep / Wake button (or the power button) to the right side of the phone. There are pill-shaped volume buttons and a mute switch for silencing on the left the device. On the back is a slightly protruding iSight camera next to thick antenna bands at the top and bottom. And a beautiful lightening Apple logo in the center and typical iPhone tagline underneath.
The smartphone still has an anodized aluminum finish to keep your iPhone 6 looking new. The chamfered edges are replaced with a smooth, seamless bond of metal and glass that could be less prone to cracking or shattering if you drop your iPhone. The use of ion-strengthened glass should also make the iPhone 6 more resilient at surviving the impact of a drop.
The design of The iPhone 6 features vs iPhone 6 Plus are still feel familiar for the most part. But to compare between a rounder iPhone 3GS and Iphone 6 the difference is huge.
Retina HD Display
The first smartphone that has a Retina display was the iPhone 4. That is the marketing term to describe any device with a high-resolution screen. Four years later, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have become the first smartphones to feature Retina HD displays.
The standard 4.7-inch model has a resolution of 1,334 x 750 pixels. Which is density of 326 PPI. Althouh, the larger 5.5-inch model becomes the first iPhone to be 1080p with a full 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution and 401 PPI. Both resolutions definitely raise the bar over the iPhone 5s, which measures at 1,136 x 640 pixels.
The all-new Retina HD Display includes a lot of innovation. They are: a full sRGB color standard, higher contrast and so-called incredible brightness and white balance. To achieve higher contrast, Apple developed an advanced process of photo alignment .This process involves using UV light to precisely position the display?s liquid crystals so they lay exactly where they should. The end result is a better viewing experience, with deeper blacks and sharper text.
A wider viewing angle is the result of dual-domain pixels that enable color accuracy from corner to corner. When you’re wearing sunglasses an improved polarizer provides you with a clearer view of your iPhone’s display. The four main components of a Retina HD Display are the glass, polarizer, IPS display and backlight.
The Retina HD Display also has an innovative new feature called Display Zoom. With a higher resolution screen, the ability to scale the Home screen or apps makes a lot of sense. Also the iPhone 6 Plus has a Landscape view on. It allows you to view the Home screen and several stock apps in a new dimension.
The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have got an improved 8-megapixel iSight rear-facing camera that packs a long list of new features:
Focus Pixels: Focus pixels are enabled through Apple’s new image signal processor. These pixels provide the sensor that carries more information about your image. This leads to better and faster autofocus that can even be seen in preview.
Optical Image Stabilization: Apple has added optical image stabilization exclusively to the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus. This feature the company describes as working with the Apple A8 processor, gyroscope and M8 motion coprocessor to measure motion data and provide precise lens movement to compensate for hand shake in lower light. The fusion of long- and short-exposure images helps to reduce the subject motion.
Face Detection: The new iSight camera has the ability to recognize faces faster and more accurately, when you are far away in the distance or in a crowd. The result is better portrait and group shots, with improved blink and smile detection and a selection of faces in burst mode.
Exposure Control: with a simple slide this feature enables you to lighten or darken a photo or video in the preview pane. You can go up to four f-stops in either direction.
1080p HD at 60 FPS and Slo-Mo Video at 240 FPS: When you shoot HD video on the iPhone 6, there is an option of recording at 60 frames per second. You can capture more action in each second and create sharper images that translate to more true-to-life video. Likewise, there is an option to shoot HD video at 120 fps or 240 fps in 720p in slow motion & full videos or parts.
Time-Lapse Videos: iOS 8 enables iPhone users to create time-lapse videos that will snap photos at dynamically selected intervals. When they are stitched together, they create these still videos that have a very cool effect.
Continuous Autofocus: This is described as an advanced optical feature that makes use of Apple’s new Focus Pixels technology to ensure that shots remain sharp and stay that way while you’re recording. Even if subjects or objects move. Faster autofocus means fewer inadvertent focus changes as well.
Cinematic Video Stabilization: The cinematic video stabilization aims to fix the shaky videos, by keeping your shots steady and as smooth as gliding through the scene on a rig.
Apple has also improved face detection in the front-facing FaceTime HD camera on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Added a larger aperture and all-new sensor technology for capturing 81 percent more light.
A larger screen needs a more powerful processor. The new Apple A8 chip features second-generation 64-bit desktop-class architecture and an advanced 20-nanometer process. It delivers performance up to 50 times faster, and with up to 50 percent more energy efficiency, than the original iPhone. Accompanied by a new M8 motion coprocessor, graphics performance is also up to 84 times faster than the original iPhone.
The A8 chip uses an advanced 20-nanometer process. It is 13% smaller, but delivers 25 percent improved performance with up to 50 percent more energy efficiency than the A7 chip, which powers iPhone 5s.
Apple details the following about the M8 Motion Coprocessor:
“When you?re in motion, the M8 motion coprocessor continuously measures data from the accelerometer, compass, gyroscope, and a new barometer. This offloads work from the A8 chip for improved power efficiency. And now those sensors do even more, measuring your steps, distance, and elevation changes.”
Apple claims that battery life on the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus either matches or outperforms that of the iPhone 5s.

Different forensics and surveillance vulnerabilities were closed by Apple. Such information is mentioned by jailbreak expert Jonathan Zdziarski in his new iOS 8 review. While this is not exactly iOS 8 jailbreak news, you should still learn what the so-called “backdoor” bugs were and how this changes everything to iPhone users.
All the vulnerabilities Zdziarski mentions troubled him before. He highlighted the problems back in July during the Hackers on Planet Earth conference. All the “backdoor” services that were present in Apple mobile firmware could potentially allow government and Apple collect your private information and personal data.
The latest iOS 8 specs, according to the jailbreak expert, address all these issues and finally restrict or guard them.
There were a lot of rumors and reports about NSA collecting records on users and spying on iDevice owners. According to the Cupertino-based company, it never created anything to help government spy on customers and all the iOS functions “do not compromise user privacy and security.”
iOS 8 fix vulnerability news luckily doesn’t mention the possibility of jailbreaking. In other words, hackers can still find new and use their old vulnerabilities to allow users jailbreaking their iOS 8 device and install unsupported apps, hacks, tweaks and games. The vulnerability is fixed through disabling wireless access to com.apple.pcapd which Apple added into its iOS 8, Zdziarski claims. You can find his full review in the official iOS jailbreak expert blog.
Apple is going to release its iOS 8 on Wednesday, September 17th. Hopefully hackers can present their jailbreak programs as quickly as possible.
iOS 8 becomes official this Wednesday, September 17. Still there are some users who wish to install iOS 8 right now. Is it possible to do? Of course, you can try to upgrade to iOS 8 while it is still in GM version [Gold master is the last testing version that precedes the official public launch].
We’ll share iOS 8 installation instructions with everything who wants to update to iOS 8 GM and then install the final official version as soon as iOS 8, iOS 8.0.1 Apple releases it later this week. It looks like users don’t need to get their iPhone or iPad UDID registered in order to update to the new firmware Gold Master.
In other words, you don’t have to be a developer to do so. Just note that you take a risk since this version is not official. You are highly advised to wait till September 17, 2014, still you can try this out as well if you are tired of waiting.
Experts believe that the final version that will be launched to public has the same build number as iOS 8 GM.
How to Install iOS 8 Right now
This guide will explain how to update to iOS 8 without UDID and dev account still note that Apple might patch this way any time. In case you are out of luck, just wait till Wednesday and you’ll be fine.

With the official release of the seventh-gen Apple smartphone a lot of people become curious how to jailbreak iPhone 6 with the newest iOS 8 firmware. Once you start searching for iPhone 6 jailbreak you might find information about Pangu tool created by the Chinese hackers which proved to jailbreak iOS 8 betas but it is now unclear whether it can support the final iOS 8 or not.
iOS 8 jailbreak is developed by a lot of hackers, but since Apple hasn’t unveiled it yet they can’t test their programs to make sure everything works and their exploits are not patched by the famous Cupertino company. Will Evad3rs release iOS 8 jailbreak or it will do other enthusiasts?
There are a lot of iOS jailbreak pros and cons and you should learn them before you actually choose to jailbreak. iOS 8 brings a lot of new features and options that can help you customize your iPhone and iPad. Still some users wish to have Cydia on their Home screen as well and this well-known store with jailbreak apps and tweaks becomes available only after you jailbreak your iDevice firmware.
Should I Jailbreak iOS 8 or Not?
Right now we can’t tell you how to jailbreak your iPhone 6 with iOS 8 on it because Apple begins to ship this new handset later in September. Still we can list advantages and disadvantages of being jailbroke and installing different hacks and applications that will never appear in the iTunes and App Store.
Jailbreaking gives you an access to thousands of useful tweaks, apps, cool hacks that can make your iPhone or iPad truly unique and easy-to-use. You can install the browser you like, download tons of useful staff, change your iPhone look, add cute tricks etc.
Jailbreaking removes the limitations set by Apple on your firmware. It allows installing third-party applications that you can download from internet.
You get a lot of alternatives to default applications, customization and tethering.
Once you jailbreak you invalidate your Apple warranty. Jailbreaking might hurt your device so you are doing this at your own risk since you download files from internet and might get a virus or malware program.
Being not jailbroken means using only apps and games approved by Apple. This means you get no hacks, tweaks and tricks.
You just get the iPhone and that’s it. It works, but it is just like any other iPhone that is not jailbroken.
P.S. Millions of users are being jailbroken for a lot of years in a row. This has begun in 2007 and lasts in 2014. Users jailbreak and enjoy getting all the new features that will never be available directly from Apple.
